What "bolt ons" bring an s52 to 300hp and what's the cost?

You posted some of the highest s50's I've ever seen. This proves the uselessness of dyno's when it comes to comparing peak numbers to another engine, on another dyno, on the other side of the country.
Spend some time looking through here for an idea of average output (with or without mods):

One was a 1996 M3, dyno'd about 1999 or so. It belonged to my friend, and it was no more tired than anyone else's three year-old car, and again, sadly it wasn't the only one I'd seen under 200 whp stock. It hardly surprises me that you wouldn't see that kind of dyno online, since it's nothing to brag about, and that's most of what those online dynos are all about.Comment

Yeah, love the all black e30. I was talking crank hp at 300. I figure I will get an s52, which should mean about 240hp than what will it take to get to about 300 without sacrificing driveability, smooth idle, reliability and non-obnoxious sound?Comment

Thanks! It needs shadowline trim pretty severely, but I'm really happy with it.
Again, you will be right around your desired power number with a cam kit, a set of headers, and proper exhaust. Drivability will not suffer in the slightest, and gas consumption is decent - For me, at least, as I average around 22/23 mpg with a mixture of daily "city" and highway driving.
The only thing I cannot comment on is "non-obnoxious sound," because an S52 with just an intake can be loud enough for some to consider obnoxious. Adding the rest does add to the volume of the car (obviously), but I have personally always found the sound to be aggressive, tuned, and pretty damn sweet. :)
Here is a poor clip of mine, if interested. The noise from the road and the wind did not help capture the sound. The idle at the end is audibly somewhat lumpy, but it's a symptom of my Sunbelt Sport cams. I have a custom pipe from the stock headers to a middle resonator, ending in a B&B Tri-Flo off my old M3:
It isn't necessarily quiet, but compared to some of my friend's cars with truly loud setups, it's pretty tame.Comment

That doesn't sound bad at all. Still a tad 'raspy' for my liking, but much much better than some others I've heard.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205
