What "bolt ons" bring an s52 to 300hp and what's the cost?

This is what I'm talking about. You absolutely don't need to S/C or turbo to make that power. Those options are the easy way out.
If you research and have the know-how, my numbers are not crazy. Trust me, I not a rookie at this game. I have made more from less.

You will have dumped more money and make less power then just turbocharging it. With this NA crazy horsepower motor you want to build will have a horrible power band.Comment

I won't debate the powerband. I just want to make that hp to prove to myself I can and then make the tune more modest for drivability.
Also, if I was looking to make 5-6-700hp, yes, I would turbo in a heartbeat. But I'm not. I want to make N/A ponies.

You would need roughfly 415fwhp to be at 350rwhp. I know there a lot of people that doubt it can be done, but I for one would like to see this. Especially what crank and rod combo along with how high of a compression ratio you will run. Race gas for sure not pump.Need a Turbo manifold? We have them in stock- Click here---> http://rapidspoolindustries.com/

You are comparing apples and oranges.
NA s50 is a bored/stroked m50.
Euro s50 is an m-series motor. Everything is different. An s52 with MAJOR mods BARELY makes STOCK s50b32 power

You said earlier that you'd have a good powerband, now you are saying you don't care about the powerband. I don't doubt someone can hit 350whp peak (for the sake of argument I'm saying I think it is possible, I just don't think you will be doing it). I do doubt your motor will idle reasonably, make reasonable low end torque, and last more then 10k miles, for less then $15k, and still make 350whp without forced induction or nitrous.
You keep saying we think inside the box and you have these ideas that nobody else has. You are telling me that Alan Jensen, Pete McHenry and Chuck Stickley can't do things that you can do? Please prove this. I'll be patiently waiting. What kind of timeline are we talking about?
So what special fabrication do you have up your sleeves? You can't get too much better then what's been done with the possible available bore and stroke on the stock block. Magic rod ratio's? The head can be worked, but you can only go so big on valves. You can get a custom cam set, but this goes back to my point of you not having a useable power band. You'll need solid lifters obviously. ITB's/custom manifolds are a must. This is a $15k+ build you are talking about.Comment

An engine is an engine is an engine. The only real differences are bore, stroke, compression, quench, valve sizing and flow, and head flow. If you can provide enough air you can make power.
And basics. Tell me specifically what the euro and NA 3.0L S50 have different? Take away the intake and exhaust. Leave just the block w/internals and the head. What is the huge difference? Besides the obvious dual vs. single vanos.
Please show me where I said I would have a good powerband. No where did I say that. The only thing I said was that I would have plenty of usable power. Plenty of power could mean 200whp at 4k. I never once said it wouldn't peak at 8k or 9k.You said earlier that you'd have a good powerband, now you are saying you don't care about the powerband. It will idle just fine. Low end torque, yeah, there will be non. I can't argue that.
I will bet you that all of those you mentioned could do this build without trying too hard. They all build cars for racing. When you are beating the piss out of a car for hours at a time, it has to be reliable and make decent power all at the same time. I don't beat the shit out of my car every minute I'm behind the wheel.
It's not going to be a car that I take on a road trip to California. It's for fun. I spend my spare time doing this shit. Building cars that are out of the ordinary.
Maybe 350 is a lofty goal, but that doesn't mean I don't think I can do it. I'm gonna try my hardest and if I fail, I will not run crying, I will let you know that I couldn't do it.
Do I think I can do it. Yeah, without a doubt.
As far as timeline. This winter I am building my Jetta and I would really like to get some seat time in the E30 before I tear it apart again. I've only put about 600mi on it this year. So, I would prefer to drive it next spring and part of summer. This build will likely happen next fall/winter.
Guarantee this thread and my goals are long forgotten by then.

With enough time and money anything is possible.
A reliable, even "race" reliable 350whp might be a stretch with anything resembling S52 production content.
It'd be great to see but I'm not holding my breath.
Prove everyone wrong and you'll have a killer motor.Comment
