I hope to see that soon in my car later this summer. My plans include a respray while she is getting the new engine. Once the S52 is pulled, Ill post it in the forums for sale. Its been a great motor (from zionsville) and installed/removed by Terry Sayther Auto in Austin. It now has 68k on it and close to 69k when pulled. EWS etc all included. Just a heads up for a good motor coming to the market later this summer :)

I was thinking $3500 for the motor, trans(zf), ews, dme, wiring. Already for swap. Pick up will be in Austin or shipped at buyers expense-$300 to $400 depending on location. I would estimate mid July to early august for shipment.

Hoping for no problems is crazy IMO. You're gonna get burned sooner or later. I brought over a few motors to resell. Didn't have a problem with motors, I did gave some problems with some really low milage 6 speeds. I didn't have any legal requirement to replace them but I did. It was enough of a hit to the pocket book to make me stop. This was a bit before Alex started doing it. It isn't anything that is going to make anybody rich. If you are trying to do it on minimal profits you will lose money when you have to fix one motor. If you still insist on hoping everything will turn out ok, you are either ignorant or stupid. Seems like you have some vendetta against Alex that you trying to personally punish him.

Nothing against Alex and as you can see in this thread I have not posted anything negative towards him at all. I am sure he sells and stays behind his product, the only difference here is that I am gonna buy a motor for my DS e30 m3 roller and saw this thread. i figured why not buy as a group and save some cash. I am taking a chance by buying these motors and other members are doing the same.

I have clearly stated to my vendors to make sure we are gonna receive good running motors. Now I am not a salvage yard dealer and cant honestly say that we r gonna get perfect running motors since its used and its coming out of a wrecked m3 or mz3. We will see how it goes, I just like to think positive and hope that everyone including myself gets a good running motor.

I am prepared to spend an extra a few dollars if there any issues with my motor since I am not ignorant to the fact that I am buying a used engine kit...

You may realize there is always a risk in buying a used motor, you customer who spent $6k plus may not be so forgiving.

Also, realize there are still customs and legal implications to importing such a motor.

I understand all the risk in this and when you are in this type of hobby then you have to be a risk taker. People can buy them brand new and spend like 15k-20k on this set up but who is gonna spend that kind of money. So like myself there is other ppl who are willing to take a risk at buying one used. In the U.S many R3Vers are buying used s50, m50,s52 and majority of them are ok. So I guess majority of the euro motors will good as well. If my vendor sells me a shit motor then I guess it will be his loss cause not would I not deal with them but also my cousin over seas as well.

Like I said we are buying used engine kits and the only thing we can do is use preventive precautions on them and go from there...

^Yeah, buying used motors with compression tests/known history/WARRANTY and for much less money.

I guess we will roll the dice a little on these engines. I have sent my deposit on a low mileage barring any bad compression, etc. Karim said it would be tested on his end before final shipment to me. Anyway, I guess we will know how this turns out in a few months :).

I am also confident that Terry can work out any minor issues once the swap is started. Pics will be coming when they start the swap and respray.

Thanks for being supportive bro, I talked to you on the phone and I was very straight forward on the whole deal. I will make sure that you get the lower mileage engine kit. According to my source there is 3 available, 1 with with 64k, 1 with 65k and 1 with 86k. So I will make sure that you will get the lowest mileage and probably have it shipped straight to u with all the paper work. So this way you will know that there is no hanky panky business going on. Hopefully everything will turn out good and then you can post pics of the engine with swap on the forum.. I might even have you pay the remaining balance directly to the source...

Wish I was still on board. Good luck with the swap and I'm looking forward to you posting your build.

You were very straight forward on the phone. That's why I decided to go forward with this. I don't have loads of cash around and I hope this pans out. You can have it shipped direct or to your shop to verify all parts shipped and arrived ok. Let me know what we are doing so I can schedule the shop time for the swap.

Will we get to look at the compression/ pics of the 64k and the 65k before shipment?

With only 1k dif, I want the one the yard and numbers show is a good one. They both are probably good, but one can try to hedge as much as possible.

I don't mind paying whoever as long as the engine is ok :)
