I would send you one just so you can troubleshoot, but it wouldn't get there until Saturday or Monday.

I can't think of any way to test that VR sensor without an O-scope. Is it all the way in at the mounting hole? Even 3/16ths out and the signal would be severely weakend.

Let me know if you want me to send you a board.

I'll pull it and reinstall and try again, probably tomorrow. If I have no luck we can work something out for a trial board. I really appreciate the help so far.

I checked out the sensor tonight and it definitely wasn't flush. The M44 sensor came with an O-ring and it's a different O-ring than the S52 Hall effect sensor uses, not surprisingly.

I removed the O-ring and reinstalled the sensor and it sits flush now, but it still won't start.

Damn... I thought that was going to have a happy ending. Is cranking now causing the fuel pump to kick-in (power at fuse 11) or is it exactly the same as before?

it didn't sound any different. I was really hoping for a roar to life so maybe i just didn't notice. let me go try and listen for it and probe the fuse.

The fuel pump is definitely not kicking on and fuse 11 is not getting power.

Do you, or anyone, know what this is? Its next to my fuse box, never had any cover or anything plugged in, and I didn't see it in any pictures in the Bentley manual. Haven't tried to trace it yet.

              Grasping at straws now.

auxilliary fuse box. one wire is constant and the other is switched.

                  .
Just an auxilliary plug. Doesn't do anything.

                  Chip is installed correctly.

I would say it's either a bad ECU (unlikely) or something to do with the CPS (more likely).

I figured it was something normal, but I was hoping you said, "its the E30 S52 cutoff switch and you need to remove it."

PM me your address and I'll send a Hall conversion board to you tomorrow.

Nice thing about it is that you will get a visual indication that it's working correctly.

If only life were that easy. :(

Hope you get your shit running. I can't remember if it was said or not, but does your Check Engine light turn on when the key is in run?

Have you tried starting it when the fuel pump relay jumpered?

now that i think about it i had a new cps that didnt look like the oem one and i couldnt start my car, put the oem one back on and triple checked my connections and grounds and then the car fired up. Also noticed the ground that connects to the thermostat cover and runs into the fuel rail cover wasnt getting good contenuity. Probably not your problem though.
