what should I do to rev a m50 to 10k

I figure since I built the whole m50 for turbo as a 2.5 I should built the top end to rev to say 10k. What do I need to change/ get. new valves, springs, and retainers? anything else? Has anyone been to the land of 10k in a m50?

If you spin an m50 to 10k you'll probably send a piston to the moon.

From what I've read in some track forums, the first thing to do would be to get a spare engine or two. The head isn't too hard to improve, but the bottom end likes to come apart when run significantly higher than the stock rev limit.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Save the money you would spend on this towards an s54 swap for your M3. You can thank me later should it ever crawl out of "basketcase" status and be up for sale.

Why does the bottom end like to come apart? The stroke is actually pretty short, shorter than a toyota 4age and that engine can rev pretty good
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

There's a lot more than just stroke that comes into play when attempting to run a motor at 10k rpm. The biggest hurdle is the weight of the rotating assembly in which the m50 is much heavier than the 4age. (it has 2 extra cylinders worth of pistons and rods for instance ;) )

Just shift from third to second at rev limiter you'll get to 10k

How many times do you want to rev to 10k?

You should imagine what could be plausible in a M/S50 longblock, realize you were asking a purely rhetorical question and not at all prepared for the $20K bill, and stick to a K20.
