Is it REALLY that hard to DIY? I mean not everyone is a fabricator but you should know how to solder and crimp shit, it is insanely easy. Reading ETMs just takes a little time.

you don't need to solder anything, nor do you want to.

having seen a few diy jobs, paying somebody who knows what they're doing could be well worth it, but it's not *that* hard..

Bumpin an old thread, I also bought a harness adapter from gregslow over a year ago b/c my soldered on c101 harness was having issues and I bought a fresh m50 harness to replace my chopped up s50 harness. Anyways my engine has been sitting forever and now I'm seeing that the adapter I bought is crap. Sucks to waste money, guess I will just chop the x20 again and use inline wire crimps to c101 instead of soldering.

just get new pins and the $40 crimper from the M50 swap sticky/FAQ thread. no reason to use old crusty pins from a used C101. you can make a pin removal tool too for about $2, and the ratcheting crimper is extremely useful on pretty much any wiring in the car.

Found the thread with info about making your own c101, posting here so it's easier to find.

I have a chart you can use if I know your model/build date and harness type (E34, E36, etc).

I'm having a starting problem after 10k miles using the adapter being loosely referenced in this thread...I think I'm gonna tear it apart and try to solve my problems by building my own C101...ugh.
