24v stroker?

Hey guys just wanted to know if anyone here has done a similar stroker and what opinions do you have and what type of gain/numbers can i expect? Im planing on building this or something similar for my vert next year...

Starting with a 1995 M50 Vanos block with a S50 3.0 crank and rods, and M50 Vanos Pistons with notched valve reliefs and notched skirts, M50 Head with S50 cams and springs. Ebay short tube headers to a 2.25 double exhaust with borla muffler (no cat, no resonator) M50 Intake manifold, OBD1
413 ECU with Turner Chip, Euro Maf, Lightweight Flywheel.

Thanks

Sounds like you have the equivlent of a 2.9l stroker.. I think? I would expect ~stock S50 numbers maybe a little more.

Honestly, I would have sourced some M54B30 pistons and built an all stroke 3.0l.

so that will be about a 2925cc?? So 90-95% of S50 power plus the mods of about 30hp???

240-250hp maybe?

I'd just buy an S52 and call it a day. you might reach the same peak HP, but it won't have the same torque.

Or get m54 internals, Bore stays the same but the stroke is greatly increased.

almost did this with my m50 block. would have been a sweet stroker.

my 2.8l franken motor comprised of:

m52 crank, rods, pistons
s50 cams
16lb flywheel
stock injectors
stock maf
3 angle on the head
ported the intake chambers and exhaust manifolds

made 205 whp and 182lb ft of torxxx

expect to make somewhere around that number.

Except then it blew up and you swapped an S52 like you should have done from the beginning. I drove dude8383's stroked M50 and S52 - you can definitely feel the difference so just go with S52 right away.

I did something similar to my m50NV

S52 crank
135mm Integrated Engineering Rods
8.5 cr wiseco pistons 84.5mm bore
oringed block and MLS head gasket
3 angle valve job
all new stock parts after that
Running megasquirt ems

3.0L if my math is correct.

Im in the process of doing the
M50tu block
M52b28 crank and rods
M50tu pistons
.027 head gasket
S52 cams and trays
To make a high compression obd1 2.8
Still gathering parts now
But everyone that keeps saying buy a s5x doesn't realize we will be making very close to s5x power for ALOT less money

How much are you into it for as of this moment?

I paid $1600 for my s52, albeit it isn't freshly overhauled I don't think you'll be under that on your build. Add to your bill a tune specifically for your motor and I can't see you being under $2500.

I plan on buying a M50 for $300.
S50 crank for $200
S50 cams (Free, but lets say $150)
S50 rods (lets say $40)
CP Pistons 84.5mm ($900)

Machining $500

Tuning is free (but assume EMS to over do it....VEMS $800)

~$2100 before EMS.

OR $2900 for a fairly built turbo ready BRAND NEW "S50 2.9L" seems a whole lot better then $2000 for a 140K miles who knows whats it been though real S50....just saying.

But to be BRAND NEW you'd need:

Main bearings $100
Rod bearings $50
Rod bolts $60
HG kit $150
Lower gasket set $60
Timing rails $50
Timing chains $60
Timing chain tensioner $80
Timing chain tensioner upper $60
Head bolts $20

$720

It is definitely better to have a zero mile engine than to have a 140K mile "who knows what" engine, but it definitely costs more than the cost of the rotating assembly to build up a new engine.
