I havent driven the car yet, still have a few things to finish up (did a m50 swap)

off the bat, the throws are ALOT shorter, its notchy ( which I like), and the position of the knob is great. Its just the right height from the wheel ( you dont have to reach for it like other short shifters because they sit lower). Another thing is obviously you dont have to replace as many bushings because well, there pretty much arent any except for the "bushing" on the shifter itself which really will never go bad or get sloppy.. and if it does, its an easy replacement because its right on the base of the shifter. The base is mounted very solid. no movement at all. Id def recommend it!! a dssr would make it PERFECT.. I have a g260 mounted up to the m50 sooo thats why Im interested in the custom dssr!

Engine and tranny mounts are AKG poly mounts. I wouldnt use stock tranny mounts at the least because since the shifter is mounted on the body as opposed to the tranny, movement can cause it to pop out of gear.. make sense?

If you have any other questions, or if i didnt explain something fully or it didnt make sense, let me know or ask away!
Here is a pic of the shifter installed ( sorry for the bad quality, just ran out to take one with my cell )

With reference to the AKG setup above, I have the same setup.

I think you will find yourself going insane from the gearbox noise with solid gearbox mounts.

I would run AKG's cupped E21 rubber trans mounts and their solid engine mounts. This way engine not going to move, hence gearbox neither BUT your gearbox doesnt transmit every single noise to the chassis.

I do this with the DTM shifter and it stays in place, doesn't pop out of gear and I don't have gearbox whine.

Trust me, solid gearbox mounts in anything but a full race car is ANNOYING AS HELL. Louder than any exhaust drone or intake or resonance. Regardless of RPM, you will have shitty, annoying gearbox NOISE with solid mounts

hmmm yeah that crossed my mind, but i really didnt think much of it (tried to ignore it really haha ).. If i get tired of the noise.. or when i get tired of it, ill do what you said lol.
how bad it the gearbox whine? obviously not like straight cut gear whine right?

I was amazed at how loud and annoying it is.

You know when you hear interior clips of rally cars and all you hear is gearbox whine. Not quite like that, but so annoying you will want to take them out inside of 10 miles

I can put up with having a Bosch 044 fuel pump in my cabin. I can't put up with solid 'box mounts. So annoying :)

1)when you say solid engine mounts by akg....are you referring to the AKG swap mounts?..I run those.

                    2) are you quite happy w/ the e21 cups/mounts w/ this set up?..I run UUC reds.

Correct on both counts. I may change to the 80a AKG swap mounts out of interest but current setup is good

received the swap dssr, very nice piece of hardware, def. should have also ordered the newer (narrower) selector shaft. Thanks Rob, very fast service.

you must mean newer sel jt........and why would that be better/..just curious?

what yr is your car/set up?....

how is the length of the uuc sel rod for your set up?...perfect?. Wondering as over the yrs I ve read how so many of the set ups require different length sel rods.

looking forward to doing this....my lateral slop is large.

Quick question that Andrew and I just had about this. If you're using the DSSR, and your transmission has the offset shift knuckle, you have to swap to the late-model centered one. Are there any adverse effects to this (very slight) position change in where the selector rod mounts?

                                Late model (centered):

                                Early model (offset):
