The holidays screwed my delivery and took longer but it's here now.

I replied to your email Rob about the DSSR not fitting to my Z3 shifter. The bushing is sticking further out 1/16 of an inch and I wanted to make sure that it would be okay to grind that down so the shifter can go in the DSSR. Just worried about metal to metal shaving. Advice?

^ yes, it's fine. I've had to do it on a couple shifters and haven't ever had an issue. FWIW, at least.

Yes, you can grind the plastic down.

BMW (actually, Valeo, the supplier of BMW shifters) did a dumb thing and changed all new BMW shifters to have this plastic lip, which saves them the 3ยข of installing the yellow compression washers. And of course, that plastic lip wears out faster and makes all new BMW shifters get sloppier even faster than the old ones.

Just grind the plastic down to the metal lip - do not grind the metal. That will be the correct dimension.

Got mine installed and the car on the road.
Made a huge difference in shifter feel (without changing any other parts).
For my track car this was money well spent.
