I forgot to post my chart for other people to look at.

Anyway here is my chart I used 6 months ago for my m50tu.

What does that diagnostic plug pin 16 on the E30 harness do? I just made an adapter from a 92 325i body harness and an 87 325e engine harness, following the ORCA instructions (some of my colors didn't match up but I corrected it). They don't mention pin 16. You guys say it's for the diagnostic plug... what for?

The ORCA wiring instructions, with some of the colors changed to what I had:

E30 pin location to the E36 pin location:
          #1 blue to #25 blue
          #2 blue/white to #2 blue/white (this is a circuit added to the E36)
          #3 blank
          #4 brown/violet to #12 brown/violet
          #5 brown/green to #23 brown/green
          #6 green/white to #22 green/white
          #7 green to #21 green
          #8 blank
          #9 blank
          #10 blue/yellow to #10 blue/violet (this is a circuit added to the E36)
          #11 white/green to #19 white/green
          #12 brown to #8 gray
          #13 green/violet to #13 green/violet
          #14 blank
          #15 blank
          #16 blank (mine wasn't, black/white - didn't use)
          #17 blank
          #18 black/yellow to #18 black/yellow
          #19 blank
          #20 blank

Just finished my adapter. $20 of parts, a few hours of fun work, just need to add connectors for the oil level sender which isn't part of the E36 harness. Made it extra long since I've heard the connection ends up being a little tight, can always loop it if it's too long.

very nice....looks a lot like mine. i used some wire wraps instead of taping it up so that if i need to i can pull it apart and make shanges.

Yeah, I was thinking about that but I quadruple checked all the pins and connections before sealing it. All seems right. I had to fix the eta connector. I dunno wtf happened to the car but the brown wire (pin 12) read like 2 kOhms. I pulled the boot, and the brown wire's pin was connected into some gimpy pin holder, shrink wrapped, then wired and shrink wrapped to the pin that was in the holder. Dunno if someone changed it at the factory after fucking up the color or what but that was pathetic. I ripped it out eventually, enlarged the hole a bit as a result, the brown wire with its pin seemed to be in perfect shape, with no measurable resistance, and it snapped in the hole, so I filled it with epoxy and it's now like new. Both sides fit, the pin relationship is right, and all resistances are ~0.

                  Hello all.

Can anyone help me with providing BMW Electrical Troubleshooting Manual for 1991 325i and 1995 M3 (S50).

I'm trying to figure out my C101 to X20 connection and I see so many different charts where the best one would still be off just by 1 wire color comparing to my plugs.

I'm not realy good in reading wiring diagrams, but I find BMW Electrical Troubleshooting Manuals the easiest to read, since they have connector name and associated pin indicated on them.

I will appriciate any help from you guys!

                      Thanks for reply.

I did search on wiring diagrams before posting this message and asking for help.

Do you really think that if my post count says 1 (now 2) that I am new to the internet and message boards?

The ETMs are available on the internet, sometimes for sale on ebay. You can find them searching outside of the forums i think he was suggesting. Not all the colors are the same, but the functions seem to be. If the color is off it doesnt mean that the function is different. Of course leave nothing to chance, but the critical elements are somewhat obvious. perhaps post your connectors colors and pins, someone may match them up if they have spare time.

Yes, looking at currently available charts, most of the colors do match, but as you said - I don't want to leave anything to chance and am looking for ETAs to verify/find wire colors and designaion.

Here is what the wire colors are in my connectors. I hope someone has info for my year/application combo.

From what I can see, the S50 wiring colors are the same except for pin 7, which isn't hooked up to the E30 C101 anyway. Pin 14 on C101 is the only color that is different from the wiring charts that have already been posted. Just download the 91 ETM from the above link and you should be all set.

It should be pin 14 to pin 14, but as you said, it's always best to verify with the ETM.

Hey all, made my conversion harness last night. I have yet to get my head back for my motor but have plugged the harness in anyway.

My idle speed control valve seems to buzz when i turn the key to the ignition position will this be due to wiring my harness wrong?

Also I have yet to locate the c104 connector inside the car, im in New Zealand so my car is right hand drive therefor i assume the c104 is on the drivers side?

                                My car is a 88 318i E30 Jap import

Have done so much searching and hours of investigating and cant find it... alternatively does anybody have the ETA or conversion pin-chart for a 88 318i as i cannot find them anywhere either. Have been using the pin-charts from AKG motorsport for a 325i wether the wiring differs much from a 318i or not im unsure of.

                                Cheers, Luke
