Anyone know what this connector goes to?

If it is coming from the HFM harness it is the purge valve connector. I want to get one of those.

The purge valve is connected to the charcoal canister. It is an electrically operated check valve.

You should have a vacuum line coming off the TB that connects to the purge valve. If not, you will have a vacuum leak. You can just plug the line if you want, if you don't want to run a charcoal canister.

I don't see the need to remove the canister though. It weighs nothing, and prevents the venting of hydrocarbons into the air.

Here's my wiring diagram. I have not verified the functionality of Pin 22 on the x20.

I did the diagram by extracting info from the ETM for a 94 325i and an 89 325i.

E36 X20 plug

3 - Brown/Grey (not connected) shows no wire in the chart
4 - Black/Blue (not connected)
5 - Black/Grey (not connected)
6 - Violet/Grey (not connected)
7 - Black/Violet (not connected)

10 - No wire in it

11 - Brown/Yellow (not connected)

17 - White/Violet (not connected)

wow, i have fans!

its pretty much on hold til i fix up my M535i. It needs brakes fixed (no boost) which i think i have the part for it, then i need to swap a transmission.

After thats all done then i need to teach my wife how to drive a 5 speed so she can stop driving my e30. so im guessing i have another month.

im also still in need with the final little odds and end parts.
