Also remember a 4.11 does not produce a great 1/4 mile time because you have to shift more, during a 3rd gear run shifting doesn't come into play. I am kinda surprised that he can make it to 70 in 3rd though, I have ridden in 2 325is with 4.10s dropped in and they cut out before that.
my 3rd goes to 85 with a 4.10 @ 6900.. thinking of raising my redline to get to 90 in 3rd. should be about 7100rpm.

That doesnt sound right. I didn't pay attention to the end revs, but theres definetly more to go after 70. I do have a 6900 limit, but then, wouldnt anyone else that has a 4.10 also have chipped there car? Most likely IMO.

I do agree this is not a very accurate way of measuring the time. But I'm confident its at least an under 5 second 40-70 car. I wonder about those G-tech meters?

My bad, I was just surprised the gearing went that high. I can see now that I am wrong.

Does any one have times for a e46 m3?

no worries, 60-80 in 3rd is much better benchmark.....whats the point of doing a run in 3rd when i can be in 2nd for most of it which is the case with a 40-70mph run.

              4.7s

thats is based on a 3rd gear 2.9s 80-110km/h run (proper timing equipment as used by a local magazine) and then scaling it by 48/30 to make it 64-113km/h which is the same as 40-70mph. Obviously an assumption of linearity was made.

and before 132 top speed with 500 rpms left iirc. that is the number that reallys sounds fishy to me. not saying you're flat out lying, but are you sure its a 4.10 under there?

It is a 4.10, I confirmed that before I installed it. I have only done a TOP speed run one time, it was 132mph on some skinny, overinflated tires. I remember pointing it out to my friend who was riding along that we were only at about 6500 rpm's. I have since squeezed out a bit more power so who knows now.

Here is a pic that was taken at the track yesterday, I had actually made it to 118-121mph each lap before heavy braking but I would need a longer straight to get top speed.

A good bit of revs left, so I dont think what I am telling you is too far off.

                    I do not have a time but a put a car length and a half on a e46 M doing a 40-100 pull.

still...although i believe that you may benefit from longer gears mang. what are your times?

i agree somewhat......your probably not making much more power than stock certainly not enough to run the time posted earlier with a stock weight e30 with 3.73, so the only thing could be that the car weighs in at less than ~2300-2400lbs which won't increase topspeed but does increase acceleration along with the a 4.1

                            My car weighs between 2500-2550

You can ALMOST see the 40-70 in this video clip at about 46-47 seconds in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPhIMhW5b80 (I forgot to remove my keyring)
                            Problem is:
                            1. I am coming out of a tight corner (tire scrub)
                            2. Its from 2nd gear
                            3. Shaky camera from bumpy ride!

I still need to get a r3v member for an official re-test.
