Another S52 swap... but this time with a newb!

Hey guys... regarding that noise coming from my tranny... is it possible that I installed the release bearing fork the other way? I mean, is there a specific way its suppose to go in? Because based on this picture, it seems that one side is lower than the other...

I hope you don't mind me using this BMA. Just for reference because its a clear picture.


Could it be possible that the release bearing isn't completely sitting flush on the pressure plate fins causing it to squeal? It makes total sense now.... We'll see, going to take the transmission off now... Can anyone chime in?

Since I took my tranny off and found out what was wrong... and its out right now, I'm opting to buy a clutch kit. Any recommendations of possible kits (future reference going boost in a year or two). I've heard people running m5 clutch disks, with iono. Could anyone give me a what I need exactly to run that m5 clutch disk? Suggestions would be nice. =)

Edit: Never mind, I'll hold off on the clutch kit. Nothing was wrong with my shit. I'm a total noob. I guess I failed to notice that I put the clutch disk in with the wrong side facing the transmission which is why I had all that high pitch screeching noise. DUH. I owned my face. It never came to light that I was working on a dual mass flywheel, and considering a dual mass flywheel's clutch sits out farther, it would only make sense that the protruding end of the clutch needs to be pointed at the engine with the flush side facing the transmission. God I'm so retarded... All could have been well if I only did it right... Oh well you live and you learn. First 24v bmw motor I've worked on boy are they different from m20s. LOL.

you shoulda bought the light flywheel from these guys on ebay.

16lbs and you can still use the unsprung clutch. i think the flywheel is like $245.

i bought this for my car, the pick up is really nice.

I'll buy it when I do another clutch job. Considering I need this thing running TODAY, I've just decided to go with what i have since they still are good. Bearings and clutch disks still have plenty of life which is why I'm hesitant to buy stuff in this area. I'd love to, but the down time hurts me more than the gains within the mods itself. Thanks for the suggestion. Would this flywheel work with the m5 clutch disk?

They look like the TMS shorty headers, which I believe Piercede30 is running. They look pretty nice.

Alright. I'll get the headers. They bolt up to my obd1 midpipes which is why I'm looking to get these. Its done then. Now I gotta wait on them Lol...

You may have clearance issues with the front mid pipe, so be ready to space the motor up on the right side. You will probably have to shave the fins off the intake manifold if you're using the 320 booster.
