Sweet. Huge Balls. I envy his determination and $$. (mostly the $$)

I can't beleive people are hating on this guy. Leave it to the peanut gallery to tell someone how it could be done better. Are you there? Are you doing the same thing? Is it your $$? Then STFU.

Aye. I'd do something asshat like a twin engine E30 or something. Or even a tri engine. Dude. ONE ENGINE PER WHEEL. Yep.

I can not wait to see how this is going to turn out.

Seems pointless and stupid. I really respect the one guy here who installed the complete OBDII-EWS system in his E30, and integrated it into factory harness's.

            This method just seems halfassed.

You mean he's doing it the right way.

There is no easier or better way than how he is doing it.

OK - I just have to chime in. I put a m30 motor in to my e30. Peice of cake compaired to a smg tranny and motor. All of you bagging on it, have ZERO CLUE...

Call me when you do a motor swap....then we'll talk.

You do realize he is doing extremely well himself right? He's going for his Ph.D. in EECS...at MIT.

what's your point? I didn't realize school pays so well.

My point is he's blowing his parent's money and I said gee wouldn't that be fun.

I've read nearly all of the thread. I'm jealous, and honestly it makes any other swap look like cake I think. There are just so many systems that go along with the S54, I believe he is integrating it very well... and worse case scenario he can change things after he goes for that first drive, which will be mighty satisfying shifting with the SMG. And over 300 HP NA will be fun.

I didn't read through the whole post, but from what it looks like he's basically building a whole new car using parts that already exist. That's pretty amazing and I give mad props to him. I've never done anything remotely like that, so I can't imagine the resources needed to do it.

So what if its his parents money... he is getting a PhD at the best engineering school in the country... if not the world... If my kid got into a program like that I would probably be a little more leanient on the money i let them spent... i know i would be...

he seems like an incredably smart guy and i would dare to see anyone on this forum even attempt what he is doing... more people here cant even get the pin chart for an s50 correct that has been done 1000000 before

Not to bag on the guy at all. But I give him a 10% chance of finishing the project. Why do I say that? Well - I'm in the middle of helping a friend with a m20 swap into a 2002. And let me tell you, just the coil ground, main relay, unload relay ect..can make you go crazy...there is no manual for it.

Some things "wire up" (aka bolt up) like the fule pump, and level sensor, BMw uses the same color codes on the wires, but no one tells you how to power the main relay....anyways...lots of multimeter probing...same with my m30 swap...

wish the guy luck - but at the end of the day, I don't know the dme will fire. and the cluster? my god man - that like putting the star trek entirprise dash board into a flindstone's car....

                              best of luck!

I have been following the thread and he seems to know what he is doing. He has tested his electrical connections thoroughly (the ones he showed) and really seems to be amazingly intuitive as to what will and won't work.

I can't wait for the start up post and hope it works first try.
