    Ah that makes a lot of sense now. Where did u get ur grease for the from DS? I heard of people using some honda grease.

      So there WAS a Euro Ford using a similar Ferguson AWD layout that BMW borrowed from? The Scorpio hit the streets in '88. Not trying to annoy or undermine nando's expertise, it just pisses me off when I read things in publications that are not true.

        No, they both use a ferguson type layout. The ix came out in '87 in Europe by the way.

                  yeah, check out the ETK. february 1985 through december 1992 (for tourings). and figure it took at *least* 2 years to engineer the thing before 1985. There weren't any similar (FF AWD layout) cars for BMW to copy at that time.

                    I will have to look into that some time, and nobody to my knowledge had made a car with the same style awd setup.

                    Here is a car and driver article about it, I think it talks about the awd system.

                      actually that Ford in 1988 is pretty similar. it uses a Ferguson layout and 2/3 rear bias. Also available with a Cosworth 24v V6.. but only in England. :p

                          Im quite sure it was in -86. A pals father bought a demo car that fall, and from what i can remember they were new on the market. At least up here in Norway.

                                from what i have read, the weak link is the front differential, not the transfer case...
