you're in norway, shouldnt you have like 10 pairs of custom made coilovers for the ix in your neighbors garage?

you need to get aftermarket coilovers and cut + weld the strut tubes.

yeah, there's no benefit unless you cut the tubes down. ground control does offer a shorter insert for the ix though.

Its like my 10. BMW but my first ix, and theres not alot of them up here either so someones experience would help alot.

I need to be able to put it back to stock when/if i want/have to. Winter can be pretty rough north of the polar circle, and almost every modification can make the licence plates dissapere.. :P

But, what coilovers would be possible to fit in the tubes? Regular 325i 51mm?

Mm, yes for wintertime. We got aprox 4 months of hell pr year up here.. :P

Any modification has to have "TUV approval" to get the car road legal, and cutting tubes will be hard to explain and hard to undo.
If I get pulled over that is. Its hard not to hear the turbo, so im kinka waiting for it to happen.
Have been wondering on giving the JOM kit a try.
Its cheap and gets a lot of thumbs.

well there's no reason to use shorter inserts if you don't cut the tubes. and if you have them powdercoated I can't see how they'd even know - they'll just be ~1" shorter, otherwise indisinguishable. I'm assuming having the coilover sleeves welded on will be ok with the TUV assuming the parts have the right documents?

If theres TUV documents it should pass, if wheelspecs, and so, are fine.

So, if a buy a set for a, feks -89, 325i touring and pull mine apart it should be straightforward to get it mounted? Got the needed equipment and know how to use it of course.

yeah, you can use coilovers from a 325i touring, it's just the inserts that need to be ix specific.

a potential stumbling block are the mounts for the swaybar link. I believe you can use the stock E30 M3 peices, which might help with TUV..

Wouldnt theese be sort of a straight fit?

the struts won't work, they're too long. you need ix specific struts, and the only place I know of that sells shorter inserts for the ix is Ground Control (they're konis so TUV should be OK?).

you can use the springs and rear shocks though.

Yeah, konis should be TUV ok. Only IX specific i can find is camber plates at G/C homepage. Think ill send them a mail and see.
Again, thanks. More used to pickups and liftkits lately.. :P
