new 325ix owner here, need some advice.

Just picked up a very nice example of the ix with 180k on it. The car has been almost completely restored. I would like to make some performance upgrades, but I'm having a hard time finding some parts. It has new bilsteins and hr springs, a uuc short shift kit with zhp knob, and a Per Formance chip.

I'm looking for a good CAI, and a rear muffler. I have gone K&N in the past, but none of them seem to effectively pull air from outside the engine bay for this model. I hae used magnaflow exhaust in the past on two e46s with great success. My exhaust shop tells me however that they do not make a muffler that will fit the 2in out dual pipes. I know I can have them hack it up, but was wondering if there was a better solution?

    Thanks!

      Thanks,

By drop in you mean the rectangle one that goes in the stock airbox?

Nice choice of rides, I have an 03 CB on IR as my other whip.

As posted above, any standard E30 325i exhaust fits the iX.

You can also use a standard E30 performance rear swaybar (I recommend the UUC, but you expected that! ;)). The iX loves just a rear swaybar upgrade.

Also on the table is lightening the flywheel, either machining out the OE unit or waiting for one of the new UUC E30 flywheels. That will really wake up the iX, it's got a lot of drivetrain mass to overcome!

Since you looking for a little more performance i would suggest taking a look into a miller maf with 19lb injectors with Kamotors intake. Great setup with good bang for the price ;)

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Ya i did it to mine, i haven't got to fully test it yet because the car is off the road but i did take it for a few runs up my road i i could already tell a big difference. my car used to have a bad hesitation and i tried different afm's with no luck and the maf took care of the problem completely. car idles better and revs quicks and have more get up and go. So far i am completely happy with it. Right now i just have there 19lb chip because i got my set-up used but i plan on getting the WAR chip when i start my turbo built next year, this year is body and paint :),

I like it and i would recommend getting it for sure.

I have had great luck with magnaflow rear mufflers on 2 e46 330ci cars, and a e36 328is. Does anyone know if there is muffler they makes that is an easy hack job? I don't cut corners on the M, but this is my winter car and don't want to spend $600 on a rear piece.

take a look at the mufflers made by vibrant motorsports they sound so sweet. i think they have a model that is dual 2" in and dual out.

from the uuc website on the swaybar
                            " UUC E30 3-series (Spec E30 legal) swaybars"
"Fits all 1984-1991 E30 325i/is/e/es, 318i/is, and Euro-market 316/320/323 variations. Does not fit iX models."
Red-ish 89 325ix with dent in the door, bad paint, missing center caps, broken defrost, broken ac, p/s pump may be going, brake pad sensors missing. On the plus side i just had the trannie and tc fixed for 2 grand!!

no i don't believe it is, i bought everything at once as a kit from another member and it didn't come with any brackets for mounting. So i have to build mounting brackets for it but it fits for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the genIII is longer right?
