 Yeah, I'm ready.

My e30 will be in the garage getting an engine swap. Luckily, I have a few better vehicles for the winter anyhow :)

The new "good to go" ix needs a patch in the rear drivers wheel well, a license plate light hole re-created. (One is welded shut, the other cut out 2x the size) and a new subframe, since only hopes and dreams are holding the TA's on to this car.
After that, oil and a peek at the timing belt to see if it has any signs of wear/age. If not, it is getting deferred till the spring.

4x4 status looking for some mud soon. Swapping back to my Toyo's I think since these are so thick. No need for stinking AWD when you run 4 snows.Comment

it really depends on what kind of conditions you're likely to see.

if it's mostly deep snow, then you'll want tall/thin. up here it's mostly going to be rain and ice, and some dry days. 195 is already narrower than stock, and in my case I wouldn't want to go narrower. I would have chosen a 205/55R15 if it were available, but 195/60R15 is really close to the stock diameter.

a taller tire will have more straight line traction than a shorter one, but then your sidewalls are also 5% taller. I find the 195/60R15 to be quite squishy as it is, and in my conditions it's not needed.Comment
