    Does anyone know of a good way to keep the axle from spinning while you remove the 30mm nut?

        That's what I figured, just checking to make sure I'm not missing something even more obvious. Man, these front ones are on stuck on so bad all the breaker bar is doing to moving the car forward...riding right up on the chocks!

          Ahhh, axle nuts are off. I've read the both the front halfshaft removal and front diff. removal section over on the iX registry, and I don't entirely understand how the shafts come out of the diff. I've got them out of the hubs, but do I actually need that BMW special tool to get it out of the diff? Or is there a generic tool that will do the same. I imagine it's some kind of puller. I called the dealer and they say that the part # comes up with nothing.

            LOL, I used an impact. I noticed the grease that come with the boot kits looks to be close to the grease for the front axle. When i did mine i also put RTV to help seal the boots to the axles. when you put the the 30mm nut back on you want it pretty much as tight as you can get it.

            I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

              it's not - CV grease is meant to be kept inside that boot. If you use it for the front driveshaft, expect your splines to rust and strip in short order. it will oxidize, dry out, squease out and leave your splines unprotected.

                lol.. i was pretty sure they was different but i though about adding some of the moly grease in there. but not vice versa.
