    I'm used to regular e30z, .. e-brake?

I don't pull the e-brake a lot anymore when I drive like I used to when I started trying to figure out my first e30. There are some instances, however, where an e-brake can be very beneficial - is it ok to pull this thing on an IX?

Where does it put stress? the transfer case?

Thanks guys. I know people pull e-brake a ton for WRC so.. ......

Ive been temped to do mine. i guess as long as it for a short time it might be ok. just enough to do a 180. i mean wheels spin all the time... esp in snow... Im prolly not right on this. im just trying to make it sound ok so i can feel ok doing it..

when I use the e brake it's instantaneous. up-down. just enough to move the weight a little more. The issue isn't with wheel spin - it's the surge through the drive train caused by locking half the system (rear end) that I am concerned about.

it's not going to work, the front and rear wheels of the ix are locked together, so pulling the ebrake is like locking the brakes on all 4 wheels. it will also stress your transfercase because that's what locks them together.

with IXes, stick to using that for parking and emergencies.

the clutch doesn't disengage the VC, but maybe you didn't realize what forum you're in. ;)

using the ebrake for any extended period of time or multiple times will burn out your transfercase. and it won't help you turn the car at all anyway, so do not do it, ever.

Transfer cases are not-be-cheap, and they are far from bulletproof. Make sure you are a baller before you start doing e-slides.
