.....Mono wipers are rice :P
but you know what wipers are for? safety, to clear the windshield. You know what is effective? Two wipers. You know what is a waste? One wiper.

From someone's site about their conversion (on a VW):
Pros:
Looks cool.
Very original.
Amazes everyone who notices.
Cons:
Slightly less area swept.

Mono wipers are now NOT ORIGINAL....therefore overplayed, and therefore RICE. You eliminate a safety feature on your car just to look cooler.....
Track cars, race cars are different. They don't have carpet, sound insulation, etc., so maybe they care about 4lbs you'll lose.
TJ, I said:The only people who really should be looking at mono are people who care about the tiny weight savings.....

TJ, I said the only people who should care about this conversion are those who track. Hence, DTM cars having them. 4lbs, whoohoo!

Originally posted by AndreNYWRONG you should just stay out of this topic cause you have no idea what you are saying, and your dumb reasons(cons and pros) make no sense at all. if you dont like MONO wipers FINE, but dont call them rice. The cons are: it looks kool, it cleans a better area then my 2 wipers did, (i know that for a fact), its faster then when i had 2 wipers, and it puts less stress on the wiper motor. CASE CLOSED
Those "dumb reasons" were someone else's reasons for doing this conversion.
Just because AC Schnitzer has mono wiper system, doesn't mean it's not rice. It means the ACS people choose to offer the product.
Hartage makes them too, seen here on a E28:
"Korman makes a conversion kit as well. I have seen countless racecars with only one wiper, it saves weight."

Listen ReelIzIm(Semi-)Pro. You guys have some serious time on your hands to worry about how much the damn wiper assembly weighs.... I don't care if it's Rally, Auto-X or SCCA! Perhaps invest that EXTRA $$ in some other "Performance" part- i.e. toward an exhaust, control arm bushings or hell, a new set of floor mats... Take your damn girlfriend out for a nice dinner.... You must be pretty well far up the accessory list to have all the other upgrades to be worrying about weight on the wiper assembly "for the mono look". I could care less who sells them- Hartge, etc. It just seems that all the Rice Cars are more "prone" to that look. Then again what ever-
If you, Andre, choose to waste your $$$ on mono wipers to look Euro, go ahead. But this is called a forum, a place for discussion. Others are allowed to disagree with you and tell you how mono wipers are Rice. I have just the same privelege to share with other's my opinion of the conversion as you do.

My dad has one on his mercedes, its on a hinge in the centre and it gets 20% more window and is fast as a mother. Dont call it rice because its not. New euro cars have them stock now and DTM cars have them. If you dont like em and think they suck state that and get off the box.
I bombed Korea every night.
