I don't think my car looks like shit, and neither do dozens of other members of this site. Do us all a favor, and next time you have a thought, let it go.

Aha. I had to read through this one before posting.
First off, I too was confused as to the purpose or value of this post, but then I casually glanced at the section of the forum he posted it in.
"general discussion."
If this doesn't fall under "general discussion," I don't know what does. Granted, one may argue that this could fall better under Appearance, or something to that nature, but realistically, it's just a general statement/opinion on a certain aspect of e30's he'd like to discuss, and I believe that this is the perfect area to do so.
That aside, the others are correct on two points -
1. There are a plethora of early e30's with "metal bumpers" that are gorgeous. Some even look better with them than they would with the updated plastics that came with the redesign in '88 and found the standard aluminum bumpers replaced with smaller, arguably more attractive plastic bumpers. I will agree that for the most part, the majority of cars with metal bumpers, or more specifically the affectionately named "diving boards" found on US cars made from 1984-1988, would look better with the plastic bumpers found on the later cars. But this is not a universal rule, and Blunt's car, Josh's car above, and a few others, clearly prove that.
In summary, this forum is an excellent place to voice your opinions and receive others' in response. But if you're new to this board, or any other for that matter, it would behoove you to take into account the people you'll unneccessarily alienate in the process.
In layman's terms: Read up on the shit you're going to run your mouth on - there's a good chance your opinion is wrong and is going to piss off a lot of people, including moderators and administrators of the board you've just recently joined. Ever hear of "starting off on the wrong foot?" :)

I like all types of e30 bumper, it really depends on the flavor of the vehicle. Josh's car i assume is aimed at the classier side of e30dom, other board members cars such as TJ's (digitalwave) have a bit more of a modern twist to them, wich, in part is because of the "newer" appearing plastic bumpers. Then you have your "euro" bumps, wich endowes the e30 with the classic look of the diving boards, while giving it nicer, more correct proportions that are commonly saught after with plastic bumps. If done right, they all look equally good in their own right.
"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

I think he is right. Josh's car looks great but it would look better with plastics or Euros. There are a lot of hot looking metal bumper cars but that doesn't mean the metal bumpers aren't holding them back. Tucked, painted, whatever, they still don't look right. Plus the early front valance and the lack of a rear valance is ugly too.
And when I say metal, I mean US bumper metal. Euros should not be confused.
