What Did I Just Break? (Steering Column)

In the process of replacing my dash. These parts just fell off the left side of the steering column. What are they and how worried should I be?

It's the connector for the ignition switch.

Are there any alternative part numbers for this? It seems there are no new switches available. Maybe an e36 version can be used?

I found one on eBay from a vendor in Jordan (of all places). It worked. It's amazing that a part thatis so essential is NLA.

I cant remember what car it was but I found an ignition switch that was the same, but i had to re-wire the wires on the other end to the e30 plug. I just soldered the wires together

I actually thought it was an e36 switch, but maybe not if the above is correct? e36 red switch itself looks the same in google images?

ill have to dig out my old photos.

The part I got worked and the car starts, but I've lost the turn signals, wipers and hazards. I've tried replacing the signal relay and Fuse #4 is intact. I'm at a loss to explain what is going on.
