Anything is fixable. Have you tried pressing the spline out? I'm not sure how it's attached, but I'd try that. If it's just pressed in, you could just get one from a shitty steering wheel and press it in. Something tells me that it's not though.
Can you tell if the steel center section is one piece? There is not a lot of material to work with there, but you may be able to just drill it out and get the splined piece from a donor wheel and weld it in. That seems like it'd be the easiest way to do it if it is all one piece. It looks like it's been recovered and is nice, so I'd say it's worth it to take it to someone who knows their way around a machine shop and ask them what they can do with it.
Thats what I think I will have to do. Just got it sent today from Europe. I dont even think the seller knew it was stripped. Got re rapped and its awesome looking. Iemailed the seller but no word yet on this matter. Usually takes a day for him to answer cuz of times.
I responded on S14. You'll have to get it repaired or resplined. Resplining can be done but will add to the cost of the wheel and I don't know who does it due to liability reasons. Ask the E28 guys about resplining.

what do those screws go to?
Messed with it a little yesterday.I think it takes only the horn ring off.
Can anyone tell me the type of metal that the splines seat in? The outer hub area is what I really want to know? I tried a magnet to it and it did stick.
Steel,aluminum,etc?
I don't know how the seller could not know the hub is damaged. Takes a good amount of force to tear up the splines that good. Hope the seller stands behind his work and makes good.
you may be shit outta luck. the back ring where the steering wheel lock latches to prevent removal is steel, and im sure there is a steel frame, but most of that wheel (and most other steering wheels) is cast zinc. good luck with a refund, cause that wheel needs serious work to be usable again (if it can even be resplined)

yes the seller has already offered to refund all my money but I told him I wanted to have it checked out first. If any money is spent under the cost of the wheel to have it repaired,he will cover it. So im good all around.
Thinking of having a machine shop cut out the old spline with a circular saw and adding a good one using the same method from a donor wheel and tact weld it in place. Got nothing to lose really, seller will cover the cost or refund me if it dont work.
Just trying to save a killer looking wheel..
