When I bought one of my e30s several years ago, I did a hard shift into third, knob came off, shifter cut my wrist.

was forever known as an "emo" knob lol

The forum allows attachments, or you can link from photobucket or something.

Sounds pretty sweet. How did you drill the ball?

I had an 8 ball knob in my previous car. Just bought a real 8 ball, drilled correct hole and popped it on. The worst part is drilling the hole so that the 8 is exactly on top.
Pic is like 10 years old.

Lmao i just tried picturing their reaction. Only in an e30 will a passenger experience such a thing.

I've had mine come off multiple times while autoX'ing (yes I know, means I am shifting way too hard, not the point.) Best was when it came off and I threw it at my passanger, yelling at him to "Hold this!!!" He was rather confused.

Physical or written abuse is the price of R3V initiation these days. He chose physical and he'll thank us later. At least he was advised to wear a helmet, some aren't so lucky.

Dammit. Don't you guys ever read your bently? everything above is completely wrong. According to the approved manual, you have to straddle the console facing toward the back seat (put a knee on each front bucket). position yourself so your nut sack about 10 inches from the top of the knob. now you can reach down and grab the knob with both hands. The last step is to give the knob a furious jerk upward as though you were pull starting your lawn mower. the manual states this only works when a friend videos the procedure and streams it directly to youtube.
