    dash swap. e30 CA STATE INSPECTION!

    hey guys working on a e30 and I was wondering if there is a company that can reproduce the vin plate. i spoke to my rep at bmw and they said its NLA and i would have to try a third party I'm going for a chp inspection and i have a different dash would like to re produce my original vin number so i don't run into any problems can someone point me in the right direction and please don't tell me that chp can find your vin in other places i want my car to have the full oem look!

    what happened to your current vin plate? You can drill out the rivets and swap it to your new dash.

          I think you should contact the CA State Police. They'll tell you what to do and once you bring the car to them for inspection, they'll affix a new vin plate. That's how it's done in MD, anyway.

            Why not just remove the incorrect VIN from your dash?

            The correct VIN will be stamped above your fire wall, and will be on a sticker on every removable body part (doors, hood, trunk), and it will also be on a sticker on your driver's door jamb.

                I think he has to when it is when salvage title or bringing back into the dmv system. OP mentioned it was a previous track car.

                  You can have one stamped out. It's not a big deal as many have stated, the vin number is all over the car including the cowl. A small plaque on the dash just makes it easy to see without opening the car up.
