Started working on repairing my comfort seats, just making sure everything was working. My passenger seat had seized on every part. Ended up spraying WD-40 everywhere in the mechanisms and got it moving, then painted lithium grease on everything that seemed to move. (Tried using lithium grease on the drivers seat, but the trim on the side next to the handbrake must have fallen out of alignment and now I can't move it without risking breaking the trim, so I'm gonna take the seat out to fix that) Then, I got under it and reconnected the wire to move it forward and back, but it seems that part of the clip to keep it in place has broken off, so I put it on sideways to hold it temporarily.
The passenger seat now reclines, raises, and moves forwards and back, but I still have to use a bit of force to get it to work, and the mechanism to allow it to recline/raise still sticks every now and then. Is there anything I can do about that? Would replacing the spring in the mechanism have anything to do with it, or should I just keep going with the grease? Also, is there anything specific I can use to secure the wire to move the seat forward and back? Or should I just put some sort of zip tie on it.
If it would help having pics I can try to link some when I get back to working on the car this weekend, hopefully my descriptions suffice though.
