These work if you have Ellipsoid headlights, not sealed beams. You didn't mention what is on your car...

Anyone actually see the 35w vs 55w side by side? Is it worth the extra $$$?Claus Luthe is my hero.

I'm assuming that rain isn't a prolbem with the units. I found a hi-res image of the case they ballast comes in, and I could tell it was crap-tastic. Has anyone washed their engine bay yet? Heavy rain?Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

rain really isnt even a thought there is such a tiny amount of water to actually get in the engine bay during the rain it wont affect anything, i have pressure washed my engine bay with some shitty xentec hids and they didnt have much of a problem"God created turbo lag to give V8's a chance" Taylor D.

55w is MUCH better. I had 6k35w raptors (their old stuff) and it sucked bawlz. I ordered DDMs slim ballast ones in 8k55w (so they'll look like 6k35w) and they are MUCH brighter. I was incredibly happy with it. It was only $69! Well worth it.M CoupeComment

So these only work with ellipsoids? What bulbs do the ellips take? I just picked up a set and haven't looked at the actual bulbs.Comment

To the comment on the 'crappy' looking ballast they are sealed. I had an OLD apexcone, original style kit, that was EXPENSIVE. It was in an e30 for 2 years. Sold the car. It was slid into a ditch. Transferred to another e30. That one slid into a ditch. Transferred again and they still work. 5+ years old.
My current stable all has DDM kits. I wash the engine bay. Drove int he winter. Drove in the spring. Will be swapping my Jeep and it drives underwater. I don't foresee an issue.Comment

US Elips are 9006 bulbs. All, well most all, aftermrket ballast accept a 900X style plug so the kit could not be more plug and play. Works great.

I've actually switched between three bulb temps on my low beams(they're only 20 bucks, why not?) Started with 6k which was awesome. Perfect balance of light output without being to blue. Then went to 8k just for shits and giggles. Wasn't much more blue than the 6k's, but the light output was noticeably less. Then went to the 4300k that I have now and they by far put out the most light. Still have that nice HID "look" to them though without being to white.Comment
