heres the difference! ....thats my audi with DDM's 55w 5000k and my friends mazda with DDM's 35w 5000k HIDs.

-besides the fact that my projectors suck (made for halogen not HID's, specially 55w ;) ) you can see my light output (on the ground) is much brighter and whiter than his. I plan on getting the same setup on the E30 (DDM's 55w 5000k)
    hope that helps!

no offense, but the lights on the mazda look much better. that audi is just jizzing light everywhere like it doesn't give a fck. straight up rice. i think i may just stick with hella/piaa halogen bulbs because that's what ellipsoids are made for, sometimes they are even mistaken for HIDs.

do you guys who have been driving with these HID kits for a while get flashed by oncoming cars a lot? I just read this whole thread and nobody mentioned it. I hear a lot of people with this setup get high-beam'd a lot since the ellipsoids arn't made to cut-off HIDs.

and I doubt there is any difference between raptor and DDM ballasts, almost ANY HID ballast you find out there in the aftermarket world is made in china anyway, even the expensive $150+ ones. i can't comment about the quality of the bulbs though, so there may be a difference there. either way they still can't be contained by ellipsoids.

The E30 projector is designed for bulbs but it does a pretty darn good job with the light pattern with an HID installed.

"dnova89" you sound a bit concerned with appearing "rice". As long as you aim your HID's correctly, there's nothing wrong with 'em. It's not a cosmetic thing, although I'm sure people install HIDs for cosmetic reasons, it's a light output thing. Oh, and if you're that concerned with cosmetics when it comes to lighting, you're probably ricer.

^ I agree with dnova89. That Audi looks bad. And when I say look, I mean it looks like it not projecting it light properly. It's not a focused beam. It's just throwing the light everywhere. That's NOT what you want a headlight to do. You understand that ck_taft325is?

I do, senior. It's an Audi. I'm 100% unfamilar with their headlight setup...

... in regards to our little E30's, is this applicable? If it is, I stand corrected and would love to hear more about it.

I have a friend who has 6k 35w in his projector housings, is it annoying when he drives behind me, yes, but they are not blinding. But the thing is his are aimed stupid low and even then they do seem to be pretty good at scattering the light all around. That audi looks blinding, please get those things aimed a lot lower than you normally would, otherwise they will blind the hell out of people. Or at least pick up some fx ellips and make some nice housings to hold em in.

so does anybody have a shot of the 35w and 55w kits with the same bulb color? I want to see some 6k's and 8k's lined up against each other.

I have mine aimed really very low so as not to destroy other driver's retnas.
