However, I can say that I've seen several examples of a similar design to the vert Lukebox. Even in my old Car Audio and Electronics magazines from the early 1980's, this sub woofer box design was quite common. I've also seen very similar designs in many cars, particularly the old Mercedes Benz's.

My point...

The vert Lukebox or any sub woofer box, built by anyone in history, is not patented and open source for anyone to copy it. Luke, if you are so concerned about people ripping off your box designs, you gotta keep that design "under wraps," secure your product since you worked so hard on it.

To the OP, to blatantly come out post that you gave your installer Luke's plans for the box was pretty douchey. He's the moderator of this sub forum and its a bit of a slap in the face. I'm not saying your wrong but I am saying you should have kept the fact you were blatantly copying the design to yourself and your installer.

Dont get too cocky now, as good as your boxes are, most people couldn't tell the difference between yours and a ported swap meet box if their life depended on it. I mean for most people, a boom is a boom regardless of how was designed.

The OP or the Alex guy to be specific actually did use part of Luke's design. The port design and the idea of utilizing the compartment between the rear seat and trunk was his idea. OP handed it over to someone else on a silver platter who most likely will use it in the future again and make money off of it. And on top of that he posted about it here.... I'm totally on Luke's side on that one. A lot of us (including me) use others design or get an idea from other's design to make a product OURSELVES for OURSELVES that we make no money on. I think it's acceptable. Even copying a patented design for your own use is legal as long as you don't sell it. But giving someone else's design to a guy who builds boxes for living is not!

HOWEVER the way Luke does business is not right! He is great at building/designing boxes but the business side should be handled by someone else. Ignoring or jumping on every customer who raises his voice is unacceptable! Selling products that are not on the self waiting for shipping is not ideal. I understand that he had/has money problems but in that case he should have let the guys who preordered the lukebox know about it so they are not in the dark thinking what happened to their box and/or money. I bet if he honestly tells the community what was going on they would have preordered boxes to help him get out of the shithole he fell in. And I'm sure that most of the people who said that they wanted the vert box but never order it they did so because they had no clue how long it would take to receive it or didn't think they would see the box at all. I didn't know GAS at all but I went for it and ordered one. Managed to grab the last one from the first batch and I received it quick because it was ready to ship. I know having boxes prebuilt, sitting on the self is not good for GAS because their money is just sitting in it but it helps build your reputation when you can fulfill an order right away. So I understand where the OP is coming from on that part.

Luke needs to rethink how he does business. He definitely has the product that people want, it's just the way he handles the business side of it might be the biggest reason why he's where he is now.

I must be missing the big deal. You have to build a box to fit a specific area how many different ways could it be done. They are all going to look similar.

Hell, even the names of those designs have been patented!

OK, first, literally thousands of people have noticed the difference, so that is not even a question. This whole business was started because I got so fucking many requests only from people hearing the ones I had done locally. Only complete stupidity would cause you to say such a retarded thing. The boxes we build do sounds drastically better and the way they are designed means they do not cause rattles...so if you are even thinking about comparing my work to whatever bullshit you think you know something about...well, hurry up and go fuck yourself.

And, last I heard, it is completely normal for a business to collect funding to develop a product and then use sales of that freshly developed product to fund delivery of said product...in fact, you stupid fuck, that IS how it works for most manufacturers. In ALL of these disputed cases, these guys paid us KNOWING they were paying for developmental products. In our case, sales dropped 75% over-fucking-night, right along with a huge hike in gasoline prices. Well, we got caught with our ass out. Thus, fucking A, another company with poor funding run by enthusiasts just may yet bite the dust.

Shady? No. Lame as fuck? Yes. Thief? FUCK No...just goddamn slow to deliver SOME of our products.

Keep in mind we have delivered HUNDREDS of boxes without issue.
