Premium Speaker - Rear (Replacements)

I found my used premium speakers are busted.

What are the options keeping the rear premium sound enclosures and same or better sound quality?
Re-coning?
Black units are on back order?
Rear are same as fronts?

Pretty sure both front and rear are 5-1/4" speakers with the tweeters being 1". I think I installed some random Rockford speakers front and rear, sound is adequate, but I am not too much of an audiophile. As to what resistance/wattage you'd want, I couldn't be certain.

Might have needed to modify/slot the front replacement speakers to fit, so it may be worth it to measure your existing set and compare mount hole centers.

One of three possible primary speakers is available: 65131386546 for ~$100. Seems expensive to me.

Just the speaker. Not cheap, but was the right solution vs buying something that didnt match or replacing everything.

One of my original sound systems was a CD43 fresh wired to a blaupunkt amp, freshly wired to the premium speakers. I was impressed and felt like I had no reason to keep expanding the system. I mean really how shocked how well it sounded!!

Building a new system for my car and I know at least the bassline ;) I want to start at.

Going to check availability of the speakers Monday.

Well that explains why mine looks different. Figured it was just an updated design, since the one I found was supposed to be a superceded p/n. Guess I'll have to do a return lol.

They probably sure wont say W.Germany on it. I also question the quality of a lot of new parts.. Well see!



I found some people talked about the late E34 speaker... But sounds like snake oil.

So how is the sound of the new premium speakers? I see a lot of love for the OEM Premium speakers, but old units off ebay seem a roll of the dice...so price aside, are the new 65131386546 now the best choice for an e30? Cheers!
