Back to the top - any update on VDO odometers? I just had mine apart for a gear replacement (brought to you by garagistic) and wish I had seen this thread earlier. Is the VDO procedure much different?

great write up. i currently have 3 mileage numbers to track (the odo, the actual chassis mileage, and the motor mileage) and this will make my life easier by knocking it down to two.

Great. Now there will be a shitload of low mileage E30's for sale now. Good info here for those who want to update to their actual mileage on engine or chassis or whatever.

Nice write up! I wish this was around when I swapped out speedometers about 8 months ago. I had to match mileage (in this case kilometers) and I just kinda forced the numbers past the "keepers" to make the adjustment.

Ha, I didn't think anyone else was doing this method. When changing out gears for people I update the odo to near-actual reading. Crime?
