It's tricky to retain the econometer and have it read properly. You have to use the megasquirt to send a pwm signal to the needle. All your other gauges will keep working normally. You do lose the ability to diagnose potential issues with ECU fault codes from the stock ECU. ABS will function normally. Everything else can be handled by the megasquirt.

I kept my econometer, but know it's completely off considering 42lbs injectors.
Stomp code won't work anymore and I believe the CEL light as well. Mine was shut off.

Are you building an NA engine or f/i? A guy here sells a vac/boost gauge that replaces the econometer which is really neat.

Well I've got a NOS rajay turbo kit that would pretty cool to build, but I like the thought of ITB's I'm not selling the car anytime soon so I wouldn't even mind waiting for a Hartge h27 kit to come up for sale and build the motor

No it's not GG, they're built by "justtrack", though he only makes a small handful of them at a time and not very often.

hoveringuy makes a board that you can use to keep the econometer. All it really is, is a conditioned output from the fuel inectors. the board adjusts the width of the signal to deal with things like injector size changes.

as far as diagnostics, actually, these days I'm willing to bet the diagnostics that Megasquirt can do are far and away more advanced than what Motronic 1.x can do. Datalogging, for one..

What about cruise control? Do you lose that when going ms?

cruise control is a standalone brain/controller, so it will keep working.
