I don't follow your response. It's not good because it's tiny, or because it would not work well even if you were looking to not go totally insane with boost?

I am not looking for more overall power as I am usable power. Pull early and constant. I will tell it how many numbers to make ;>

would need lots of custom parts, basically every single flange on it isnt compatible with most e30 turbo setups. it could be made to work, but wouldn't be worth it. plenty of small t3 turbos for cheap that get the same job done.

Thanks Kam. I am on noob level with turbo sizing and fitting.

So what's the biggest fitment issue? If fab work is an issue, there's always welders to throw money at. ;>

Or just spend the same amount on a holset and call it a day. No point in chasing bad money with good. Now if someone gave you one for free it might be worth it. Otherwise you'd spend as much if not more then it would cost to buy a brand new garrett.

I can give you an evo 8 turbo for $200 shipped if you'd like.
Has 40k on it and replaced with an evo 9 turbo because he wants power.

I was looking into using an EVOIX or EVOX turbo (depending on which rotation would fit best) on my M42. They are pretty easy to find, there are a lot of bolt in upgrade options if you want more power, ect.

After some more thought I figured going with a Garrett turbo would give me more upgrade options and a BB CHRA. A BW EFR 6258 would be nice too.

It all depends on your engine though as most people use the 6cyl engines and these turbos would be too small. I also road race so response is key and I don't need a ton of hp.

Most cars here are street cars so they can give up transient response for a cheaper turbo, or they want more power.

Mitsu turbos are really dang good turbos though so its a smart option if it fits your power goals.

For an m42 i'd go t25 or t28. They sell for peanuts on zilvia.

The older I get, the more I love smaller turbo's. Not so small that it is choking out before redline, but small enough to spool earlier and hold peak boost until you shift.

Disco potato (gt28rs) has my vote. You won't make high peak but the car would be amazing to drive.

                      Volvo junkyard turbos ftw

Edit: I have a garrett TB03, couldn't ask for much more. Boost quick and holds to 12 psi
