That statement is wildly inaccurate, everyone had heard it before, and it adds nothing to this conversation. Do you have an input on any of the engine management solutions being discussed?
the way to do it without spending extra money is by not buying/doing stuff that doesn't really work, and then buying the same (better) stuff again later down the road.

Did you not see my post earlier in the thread? OP wants to go fast for nothing. He wants nitrous, not a turbo.
People continue to reply yet he doesn't seem to understand that you have to pay to play. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, but it's the simplest way to get the point across. Sure you can do a budget build by throwing in cheap parts but you will NEVER make the power you could make with proper tuning and a good setup. Not to mention the reliability issues and band aid solutions as a result.
Maybe I misread it, but it sounds like op wants input on an engine management solution that offers a balance of performance and usability, and confessed he had a limited skill set. The best solution seems to be a PNP ms, as previously suggested by others in this thread.
Parroting some overused phrase like "#pay to play" offers nothing to the discussion, and doesn't help the op or others who might read this thread looking for useful information about what management solution for a fi engine offers the best return on investment.

Megasquirt was suggested within the first few posts and was apparently quickly dismissed because of his lack of knowledge. It's possible that it is his first time considering the real cost of a turbo setup. Such phrases are 'parroted' for a reason, and I feel are entirely warranted here. Turboing a car the proper way costs money and time. Learning is part of the process. If he can't accept these facts I think he'd be better off not buying a turbo kit or tuning solution before he realizes he's in over his head.
If someone's willing to experiment, safc has yet to really be explored with our cars (to my knowledge) and would be the cheapest solution than anything else. But then again... You spend that much money on a shit piggyback when for a few dollars more you can do fuel, timing and other goodies? It just doesn't make sense. So yeah, this is exactly why I suggested megasquirt, and routes to make it even cheaper.
Also, I'd like to point out that your last two posts have contributed nothing new to this thread other than to lecture me for posting a short and potentially thought provoking statement--and one that those exploring tuning solutions for the first time have possibly never thought of. Cool.
Choose parts carefully.do your research and know what you're getting yourself into. Know what parts you need to spend money on and what you can skimp with. You're going to spend money. Just know where it needs to be spent. Whodwho's kit is probably the most cost effective way of doing it properly IMO. eBay can be your friend, but again know what you're buying. Lets just put it this way, I have around 2k into my turbo setup and I'm still N/A and still have a lot to buy. Be prepared for lots of planning and waiting for good deals and changing your mind back and forth, but don't give up
