    4hp22 Metal Input Shaft Seal

    Hey R3V-

I have been digging through the archives and coming up blank.

Back when I had my first iX, a metal round “seal” on the input shaft of the 4hp22 failed and leaked fluid into the clutch packs and knocked them out, leaving me with only reverse.

If I remember correctly, this is an extremely common issue on the 4hp22.

Does anyone know/remember the p/n or exact name of that seal? I can’t seem to find it, even on realOEM.

I have been selling several auto transmissions lately and would like to replace it on these ones that I am selling for the next guys.

    Thanks-

I believe those seals are replaced by teflon ones.

I think there is a big market for auto transmissions in Europe as most E30s were manuals, and those who want automatics can't get them. But shipping is expensive, of course.
