    IE Oil Pump Quality?

Is the IE oil pump any good?

I'm buying the last few things I need for my stroker build and I want to avoid any oil pressure problems. It seems like IE is the only source for replacement pumps right now, and the whole unit is significantly less expensive than buying the individual gears and valve for a rebuild. A genuine BMW pump is roughly $350-$420, so significantly more than the $175 IE is charging.

Should I worry about the quality? Is there a better oil pump option right now?

i rebuilt mine. there's not much to them. there were none available when i put the engine together. the IE pumps are all rebuilds as well.

Do you think IE actually makes those ? Simple resale is going on there. EBay is also full of them so who knows what are you getting, IE did not specify the manufacturer but it doesn't really mater because it's not Laso or OEM. I would consider OEM and only OEM but Laso would be my only recommendation if you must go aftermarket. OEM can be found for high $300s. Gonna spend $1000s on the rebuilding the engine and save maybe maybe $300 to oil it all with a questionable pump? Ask yourself....

I'd disassemble, inspect and reuse your old one before I put a no- name in there....

....jus' sayin'. and I've used Febi parts before...

if it builds pressure, it's working.
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

This is what I plan on doing. I should have one or two pumps laying around. I assume I can make at least one good one.
