Re-pinning a Motronic 1.3 DME connector

I'm re-wiring my SpecE30, and in doing so, I'd like to re-pin the Motronic 1.3 DME Connector (55 pin). With that said, I haven't been able to find a reliable source for how to de-pin and re-pin the connector since it's so old.

The only recent-looking product I could find is this:

I believe they are JPT terminals, which can only be removed with a tool like this:


This tool is $75 for some awful reason.

Is there a cheaper tool to use, if this is even the right tool at all? What sort of crimper would I need? Does anyone have a video guide, or even a how-to with pictures?

I have depinned a few terminals on my DME harness but it's the early style used on 318i/325e/M3's...and not the specific 325i Motronic 1.1/1.3 harness. I didn't need to use any special tool, just a mini flat head. Check and see what kind of tool you can use as a substitute.

In many industries, $75 for a de- pinning tool would be considered inconsequential-
some of them are truly an 'investment' for some of the more industrial stuff...

That said, I've flattened and filed a piece of 12ga copper wire to extract most pins...

DME connector has a middle plastic plate that needs to be slide up the wiring harness so you can depin the connector. It's not an easy job by any means on OEM connector.
