    Performance Chips

From what I've read, It seems that a Mark D chip is the best buy. The dynos showed it gave the best performance gain, over other chips like the Jim C, but I'm not sure whether I should get a 91 or 93 octane chip. I live in Seattle where 93 octane is relatively easy to find but is the expense of 93 octane gas worth it? Would a 91 octane chip work just as well?

Yeah, but about two bucks extra per fill up can add up over a year or so...

I'd stick with 91. It can be found anywhere, at least more than 93. That way if you ever go on a roadtrip, vacation, excursion, you can fill up. Don't even think of crossing the rockies otherwise. No one uses 93 in the midwest.

well what are you going to run with the 91 octane chip? they don't sell 91 in washington (that I've ever seen). if they sell 93 in your area then that's a no-brainer. We only get 92 up here. :(

I've been looking for a performance ship. See, allot of positive talk about the Mark D Chip where can a Mark D chip be purchased at? Also, I've seen allot of chips on ebay for under $100 bucks. Are those any good or just crap.

search, this has been gone over numerous times.
You can get the Mark D chip here: http://www.dsylva-tech.ca/
He also does group buys throughout the year, so you may want to wait for one of those.

The eBay chips are a hit or miss. Alot of people have gotten one and they work fine, since the majority of them are just knockoffs off of MarkD, JimC, Dinan, etc, but you're never TOTALLY sure. It could be a chip some bum off the street programmed, and if your engine blows, that's that. And a brand new engine will for sure cost alot more than the extra hundred or so that you spend on a legit chip. By buying an actual chip from a legit tuner, you know exactly what you're getting, and MarkD has an excellent reputation.
Also, the tuners that are making chips for our 20 year old BMWs are few and far between. We should be supporting them, not the people who steal their software.

I've seen plenty of 91's all over seattle. I live in Magnolia and the three gas stations we have all sell 91 and I know for a fact there are stations that sell 91 downtown. I don't see near as many 93's but I have seen a few in this area...

Well the thing is, if you drive someplace that doesn't carry 93 octane you're screwed. Not even just Seattle, if you want to drive to let's say California, you won't be able to take your car without putting the stock chip back in.
Get the 91 octane chip and upgrade your injectoprs, you can always put 93 octane in the car, but you won't be able to put 91 into your car if you have a 93 chip.

I run a stock m20. should I keep the 14#injectors or would I gain more performance if I switch to the 19#injectors?
