    Educated Hp guess help.

About a year ago, i blew the head on my m20 and decided to go all out and make a track/autocross car out of my e30. I spent butt loads of money on the head re-build. So far i have both the manifold and the head ported and polished, and i have 288 cam with a re-grinded head for higher compression. Can you guys give me an estimate of how much hp we are looking at??

PS. I would have dynoed it by now, but right now there is oil leaking into my cylider due to head gasket or a cylinder rings. So the car is going to be garaged for a long time before i can afford any repairs.

Don't you know how mods work?

            Port and polish = 20hp
            Higher compression = 20hp
            Schrick cam = 40hp

            168 + 20 + 20 + 40 = 248hp.
            paint sucks

hahah i love how he was stoked at the answer "167." i cant believe someones posting this question, but anyways OP is it a 2.5 or what? fix that baby up im sure itll be fun no matter what the number if you put it together right. i wonder if thats possible from someone asking your question though.

is that before or after VTEC??

I was not stoked about that number, but my answer maybe gave it off that way. I wanted to 2.7 my b25, but with my head i need custom rods and pistons. Am not sure i want to spend another 2k. I know this was it was a dumb question but shit, worth a try :p

I remember reading mags back in the day with crazy ass claims.
Iceman CAI for a 98 civic si +10-15hp.
                  Skunk type R header +20-25hp
                  Unichip chip for transam +40hp
DickSucker big bore throttle body for mustang +40hp

People just ate it up and added up the claims so they
                  got like... LOOOOOOOOLLLL (sorry) some
Cai, MSD, Header, Muffler, Pulleys and they figured they just made +80hp
on there 1997 xxxx type r.

My rebuilt stock 2.5 m20 dynoed at 154hp/154tq just for reference. The cam would make the most difference. I would say between 165 and 170hp is a realistic number but if the rings leak a little expect around 155hp.

There is a reason why VTEC is also called "Light speed"

A rebuilt m20 should be up in 160's, keep in mind some dynos tend to deflate hp number. As for my car, i wont be drving it with the leak because it causes the car to miss fire. I will wait for the rebuild before i dyno.

                      Thnx for the help :)

154whp would be one hell of a m20.
