yeah, he could bump up the fuel pressure to 3.5 bar and keep his stock injectors.

hmm, i know a really good local tuner. He does Gentani cars. But it would be about 200$ for a tune. I guess i can save money for the tune instead on the 19lbs injectors.

$200 for a tune is cheap, if he's actually any good. dyno time here costs $100 an hour, plus $50 setup. that's without a tuner to guide you.

            Mega Squirt or WAR chip?

there are advantages and disadvantages of both

              war chip-
              pros:
              easy to set up
              relatively cheap
              MAF conversion is easy
you only have to worry about timing/fuel maps
              cons:
stuck with Motronic 1.3 hardware limitations (single coil, batch injection, no boost support, smaller injectors)
              no real datalogging
              no support outside of miller
closed source - if miller disappears, you're stuck.

              megasquirt-
              pros:
              control over everything
              highly customizeable
not stuck with limitations of the stock hardware (cop/sequential is possible now/soon)
wide ranging support - used everywhere
              MAP sensor (no intake restrictions)
open source - constantly being updated
              cons:
harder to set up (steep learning curve)
you have to tune everything (that means learning)
              costs a bit more
improper installations can lead to issues (bad wiring/soldering)
the amount of options/possibilities is confusing to new users

if you want something tomorrow, get the WAR chip. if you don't mind spending 6 months reading and learning before you dive in (to avoid getting lost because you don't understand how EFI works), then get megasquirt.

yea, i am leaning towards WAR chip. the tuner said working with the mega squrit is a headache.

it is if you don't understand it. especially if your tuner doesn't like it, then get the WAR chip.

                      It's all pesonal prefrence.
You like to have full control of the ecu and see exactly what's
                      going on? :)

Cool thing about MS is that tons of M20/M30 guys
are using it so you got... TONS of support for settings.

Back when I first used it, I got a really really rough msq from somebody.
Drove to work 20minutes after plugging everything up. Cold starts where terrible, no ICV, VE was a mess.

Now people have got everything down. Basically get a good msq and you'll be in the ballpark.

Now there's VE anylize live, so it autotunes while you drive.
Probably get a clean factory like VE in 30minutes.

Not to mention many many awesome features and a datalogger.
You'll probably get about the same hp +/- with a chip vs ms if you're stock (ish).

                      :hitler:
