Okay, well, after looking through this thread and seeing that there was some interest in people following this build I guess I can continue the build thread for my car with RV's parts.

I purchased the parts and got them in just last week. RV did a great job of packaging everything for me and the care he took for shipping me the crankshaft was outstanding. I am more then pleased with the parts and can not wait to get my car back together and running with help from Robert.

I'll post up some background on my car and the past year in just a bit, but for now I have some work to finish up.

      A little background

I bought my E30 in 2008, from a guy in Ft Walton Beach, FL.

This is what it looked like on the way back to Alabama...

Shortly after having it, I did some suspension mods, and just started doing maintenance items that had long been ignored.

After a year of autocrossing and learning about the local scene, my brother and I started making plans for what we wanted to do. We decided that autocrossing was fun, but we really wanted to do Time Trials and Hillclimbs. This is the point when my brother decided he wanted his own E30. So.....

I decided at this point, that it was time for more power. So.....

Megasquirt, T3/4, and some money thrown in for good measure I had this

At the beginning of 2011 our cars were looking good, and performing good. One turbo e30, one 2.5L NA e30.

this is when it all started going downhill. I blew my motor the second day of competition license school at TGPR. So, new plan....get another motor, put turbo on it, and good to go, right? Wrong, blew the second motor in June of 2011. So, third motor, back to NA. We hoped to have everything back together in time to compete with both cars at the Crow Mountain Hillclimb in Hollywood, AL in October. Well, we competed, but with only one car.

It was tons of fun, as you can see here. But at this point I was getting very frustrated with my car not running. So that is when it was decided to start looking at really doing a NA motor, and doing it right. A complete rebuild, striped down to bare block, bare head, spec everything, and build a high revving motor. That is where I now stand.

      So the plan is this.......

2.8 stroker motor (obviously built with the parts that started this thread in Robert's possession)
      VAC competition valve springs
new cam (at this point still being decided upon)
      headers
      side exit exhaust

and for the car.....well, continue it on its diet, work on aerodynamics, and make even more room for the 275 hoosiers on the rear.

damn..sry to hear about all the blown motors.lol glad to see u havnt given up tho. to many ppl call it quits after a blow and its sad to see

what are u doing for the diet?? im looking for lighter replacement doors, trunk and hood if possible. or are u just taking interior stuff out?
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

if you're even going to bother building an M20 stroker - and doing it right - do a 3.1. if you aren't doing a junyard-parts-bin build, the cost difference between a 2.8 and a 3.1 is essentialy nil.

i still think there is merit in the 2.7 or 2.8 option if it is done with some thought, but IMO it is when you start doing custom pistons that might as well go all out

Its been a bit, but here are some updates.

I got my block back from the machine shop. I had it hot-tanked, honed, and all the specs checked. It came back perfect. A coat of paint, and its ready for assembly.

Crank was put in dry, and all the main bearings were torqued and plastigauged to check tolerances. A few of the bearings were moved around to get the clearances as even as possible across the main bearing journals.

Once that was done, the same thing was done with the Pistons and Rod journals. A few bearings were moved around after clearances were initially check to have even tolerances across the face of the crankshaft.

After the bottom end was in place, and all the seals put back in, we started putting the crank scraper and oil pump in place.

So that completed the bottom end.

The engine is back together and has started. A new 285/285 CatCams cam was put in. Bought it from VAC Motorsports and it's a drop in unit.

And last but not least, the engine did start. What a relief!!!

We had only a few small hiccups when putting everything back together. The thermostat housing has a small leak, so we need a new one of those. Other stuff just includes small things and then double checking everything. The tuning and running the car will be a very happy day.
