    for those with turbo experience

So my car is a 90 325i and obviously its turboed. Its done right with quality parts but its my dd/only.Ive recently decided maybe I should get rid of it for a swapped e30 for reliabilities sake. What do you guys think.Everything on my car is new and I literally mean new so technically I shouldnt have anything to worry about but of course its always a possibility the turbo will go or blow a headgasket. What do you guys think?

"New" and "done right" mean that if you're fairly ginger with it as you're on public roads and not raping the motor regularly, you should be fine. Even your head gasket as it'll be MLS and you presumably have ARP head studs.

Don't get me wrong, it's still an m20. Turbo or not. 24 valves are very civilized.

        This.

There are plenty of DD turbo cars out there. If it really is done right with quality parts I see no reason not to DD it. Don't go driving it to break shit, just drive it like a DD.

I'd buy a NA car cheap so I could track the turbo car (and break shit). What's the use in boost if you're not gonna use it?

new and done right means you should be able to mash it everyday. If you have any doubt its not going to function properly... then its not built right.

Im getting the feeling you didnt build this car...

Sorry I posted that from my phone. Everything is done right but im now in a situation where reliability is absolutely imperative.

Like I said above I see no reason that anything should go, it is a new oem headgasket and I do have studs.

I have just never driven it daily and now it is my only car and I drive about 12-1500 miles a month between work and school so to me it seems like that gives a lot of room for a problem to pop up.

if you're that worried about it, I would get another car. You don't sound so confident, but with a turbo there are a few things more likely to go wrong, even something simple like IC pipes blowing off can be a pain in the ass on the side of the road during a 100 degree day. Especially the ones that are hard to reach. (I've been there.)

have you broken anything yet? have you driven the living shit out of it?

did you build it yourself? did you buy it already turbocharged?

how long have you had it turbo'd? has it given you any problems?

How much boost are you running. moderate boost, good parts, built right with proper tune should be very reliable.
