Yeah. Don't see an NA m20 (built and tuned to an inch of its life) getting any where near what a s54 puts out (even stock). 333hp vs 169hp, I just can see any possible way to extract 200hp out of the m20 in its NA form.
Why does every thread involving N/A M20 power dissolve into ramblings involving M5x/S5x? Apples to oranges, different strokes for different folks, so on and so forth.
Maybe I'm jaded, but lets keep this on track.
Here's an extrudabody setup being done by a customer in Australia, being stroked right now, so no news on actual HP.
Here's another Aussi customer running S54 ITB's, was at 230 to the wheels, but motor is back apart in search of a few more hidden ponies at the moment.
Another customer on Crete is claiming more but I haven't seen proof yet. In many cases America is in need of some serious catchup in when compared to many found in Northern Europe and Down Under.

Toyota 1600cc 4A's get to 320hp @ 13,000 rpm in Formula cars. 1985 DNA on that one
Just like how a Lowly M10 with a special head and super re-configure of everything and unlimited budget+++ becomes this monster:

I understand there are other manufactures that have lower displacement (as well as less cylinder count) NA motors that can put out some serious hp, but most of those are like stated above, tuned to within an inch of its life and honestly at the cost of either (Nissan Primera BTCC= roughly $12-13k, 4AGE Built NA for 240hp= roughly $10-12k) its not what I would consider worthy of there dollars unless you are racing the vehicle in a spec class or have money falling out of your pockets and are rich enough that the time it takes you bend over to pick it up is less cost effective then to just leave it. ;) I would never spend that kind of money trying to build an m20 NA to make 300hp when I could spend abit less and put a better motor like a s5x and have far more potential (as well as displacement) on top of parts available down the line.
Oh and good friend of mine has a really well built Panda Colored AE86 with a 4AGE built NA (formula atlantic) that is rated @ 240hp that revs to 10k and absolutely screams! I have been trying to get him to sell it to me for quite sometime... :)
while I think it may be physically possible to get 300+ HP out of an N/A M20, it's not reallly worth talking about - it would probably cost 10x as much as an S54 swap, and not live long, and really not much of the original engine would be left anyway.

I understand your reasoning and it makes sense, but this in the M20 section discussing the M20 N/A setups. Let's try and keep it on topic for those of us still enjoying what 2 valves per cylinder can do.
