i still say run it with the knock.
but in the event that you do pull it, make sure everything you use to lift it is SOUND as hell. just take it one step at a time and don't make it more complicated than it is. make sure all accessories are removed as well. and whatever you do please don't smash your only good foot with an m20 ;DComment

Did I say it was impossible?
The hook is held in place by the bolts used for the timing cover, if I recall correctly there is a 13mm and a 10mm holding that cover in place.
Do whatever you want, I don't give a shit.

This.Andew... I don't think you have the capabilities to do this, just save up the money and pay a local shop. This isn't going to be like anything you've experienced before. I mean, you have had some trouble with some pretty basic stuff already and this is a lot more intense and in-depth.
That being said, im sure you'll try it anyway so good luck, take things slow and use your head.

Word. I didn't know shit when I was 16, going on 19 in a couple weeks and have learned a lot in the last 3 years. It's just a really big job and not for the faint of heart at all. I'm kinda dreading my M30 swap in a way, just because of all the work involved, but it will be worth it in the end!
Anyway, like jparkr said, take your time and you'll be ok.

I wrapped one long chain under the passenger side motor mount arm, looped it over the valve cover and manifold, and looped it under the driver side motor mount arm. I had a load leveler, but I didn't even use it for it's function. It allowed me to mount the chains perpendicular.
