89is wont start $50 to the person who figures it out
The car suddenly died on me after adjusting the valves and replacing the intake manifold gasket. After the work it idled for a few minutes and drove with no issues until it died a few blocks down the road. It was able to start a few random times but will die as soon as gas is applied. It hasn't started for about 2 weeks now.
Thank you,
Mike
I would recommend looking at the valves again...does it attempt to crank but just doesnt turn over? re-adjust the valves...
If the CPS was bad, the fuel pump wouldn't be working. The fuel pump gets signal to turn on from the DME when it sees a rotating engine (from the CPS). My guess is that your injectors aren't firing, possibly due to a bad connection at C191 (under the intake manifold).
How's the idle, rough? Does it sound like it's missing two cylinders? I would bet it's the c191 as well. If it idles smooth however, I would think fuel pump but you have mentioned the fuel pressure was at a normal range. Beats me!
I stand up, pull my dick out, and asked my gf to give me some noggin... Well, she starts laughing at me and I freaked out and ran off and locked myself in a bedroom.
The plug on my car is slightly different then what i'm finding for the c191. Mine is more of a standard clip plug and is grey. Not sure if this makes a difference or not but i have checked the wires and cleaned with electronics cleaner.
Had a issue with my friends Porsche, good spark, good fuel pressure but the injectors refused to fire (87 so similar motronic setup).
I unplugged the entire harness and checked for continuity between the 2 pins on the injector plugs..turns out the 2 wires in the plug had shorted out internally and were causing all the injectors not to fire.
Have you tested cylinder compression? No compression = no start. Pull the spark plugs out during crank, should smell strong gas. Pull the spark plugs out and ground to engine during crank, should see sparks.
I would focus on the AFM. Electronically speaking it's the second most important sensor next to the CPS.
A m20 will fire up and idle perfectly with the AFM disconnected. Maybe the ICV took a dump in a completely closed position and your not getting any air.

Does anyone have experience with something like this? am i better off buying a different harness at this point or is it worth tracking down?
Here are a couple of pictures of tmy clip for the injectors (grey connection) and what i believe is the factory wiring for the injectors. I found this in a spare parts box that came with the car. Do you think this is a homemade connection? source of problems?
Hey guys, a little update. I pulled the injector wiring apart and found a wire that wasn't connected at all. Got it connected and re installed everything. The car started for a split second and died. Cranked a few more times and actually idled for a 5-10 seconds. Sounded great but died again once i touched the gas... any input? I scanned the diagnostic port again and got a code for a coolant temp sensor. I've heard this can cause running issues but shouldn't cause a no start.
So after running last night it stumbled again this morning and now wont fire. Checked fuel pressure again and nothing.. this issues continue to pile up, looks like i'll be getting a fuel pump now. What are the chanced the pump is intermittently supplying pressure but not enough to keep it running?
