Anyone know which pins to test on the relay to jump start the pump?

afm...if u change the engine then the afm has to be changed as well, also check your throttle positioning sensor, ive seen these issues from something as single as that too.,

I believe the AFM was changed when the PO did the swap. This car has run for the last few years with the one in the car so i don't think that's the issue. I've also followed the Pelican guide to cleaning and checking the TPS.

The one in the tank sounded like your original problem

Delete that rusty piece of crap after the fuel pump in the line. BMW stopped using them (replacement part is a straight through coupler), and they eventually rust/leak.

also, just because your CPS will allow the car to idle doesn't mean it's good. VR sensors output a voltage that increases with engine RPM. as the voltage goes up, problems may ensue, especially if it's old. Mine failed in that manner - higher RPM problems that quickly became mid, then low rpm problems (along with tachometer unhappiness), finishing with idling but no running, and finally followed up with no start.

Hey guys, got the car running but something still isn't right. Fuel pump fuse blew after i fixed that wire so that's why the pump wasn't engaging. The car is still running a little rough so i'm going back over the valve job for the third time today. Getting a good "feel" for the gauge is a little tricky for me.

                    Replace your hacked together harness.

Having your valves wack will not make it unable to run

I want to! everything has been hacked though so i'm thinking a new harness will only require more hacking and custom work to get it in.

I agree but when it did start yesterday it didn't sound like it was running optimal. I figured a quick check of the work wouldn't hurt anything since this is the first car i've adjusted valves on.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated!!

check if the impulse sensor wiring connector and the crank position connector are plugged into the right spot.

you can easily install them backwards

I just switched those around and got nothing, put them back to how they were, the car fired right up and died. When i test the cps i get 540 ohms, but i'm starting to feel like this is the problem, maybe something intermittent?

All you do is cut off the round plug on a new i harness and solder the square plug in. Its about 10 wires. No biggie.
