does anyone know what pin/wire to splice the c104 tach wire into? 84 to 89

The tach signal is the blue/black wire from pin 6 of the DME connector. The econometer is a white wire from pin 32 and the START input is the green wire to pin 27.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

:ohi, sorry to bring this back from so long ago but I'm a little confused and needed some help.
I'm doing a complete I conversion on an 87 E. Basically converting the car to a 325i, right now I'm not sure but I believe I have a 90 harness so it sounds like it won't be PnP. Is pin 20 the only thing I need to worry about? A lot of people are saying the harness needs to be modified which sounds like there's a lot more to it but just modifying one pin is easy enough. Is it that simple or are there some pretty extensive modifications that need to be made that im missing?
              Thank you

Safe to say the '87 e and i C101 pinouts are the same imo. Also have a look here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=100939

pin 20 of C101 on the body side of early cars is grounded and as I recall there isn't a wire to 20 on the harness side. But on later cars that pin has some other function and isn't grounded.
Yes, as above, on late cars, pin 20 is +12 at 20+ amps for abs or airbag.
Even though the body side doesn't say it, 20 is usually grounded with
                  small diameter wire.
When you turn things on, the small body wire starts smoking.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CLIP PIN 20. It is absurdly easy.

Then the car will start and run.

You'll have to move 2 other wires to get tach and something else, but that's not
                  too hard.

                  This isn't rocket surgery.

thank you guys very much for clearing that up.
i thought it would be that easy.
as far as the inside goes, isnt there 3 wires you need to splice? tach, CEL and i believe the eco. gauge.
