Id put the breather hose back on. I mean we are talking about a motor that nearly bogs and dies when you take the oil cap off.

No this wasnt resolved, well I didnt fix it. The bogging down I believe is a vacuum leake that I cant find for the life of me..
And the hard bucking did stop. I couldnt find out what the issue with that was either.

Buy cigar, puff on it, blow into intake, find leak.

I will probably give that a try this weekend, you just blow smoke into the intake? should the throttle be closed or open?
and i replaced the valve cover breather hose and what is a good way for checking my afm?M30 is God's motor.....but Jesus drives an M60'd car -slammin.e28Comment

you could actually use a voltmeter, but you'd have to supply voltage to the afm to test it properly.you need to test the resistance on the AFM, so a normal voltmeter won't work.
You connect positive to pin 3 and thruput to pin 1 I believe. should go smoothly from 2.2kOhm to 2.7kOhm, as you move the needle from one side to the other, at around 75'F
Now that's just all from the top of my head, so you can google "test m20 afm" to see what comes up to check my work

In about than 15 minutes a properly executed smoke test using an oil smoke generator will find the leaks. There is no substitute. Understand that if there is a gross leak(s) that shows up immediately, it will have to repaired and the test repeated. You can only say that there are no leaks when 2-4psi of smoke pressure can be held for over 5 minutes. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Ok so how would I supply voltage while testing the afm? Maybe 9vbattery? And jlevie I dont have access to a real smoke tester uless maybe a local shop would have one around.

Easy DIY with some paint cans, tubing, and a few cheap connectors.
Have done this with great success can be made for under $20.Comment
