This is mine. as you can see there is nothing to hold toothed gear in place. making the pulley and gear one with some welds will render them one piece thus solving my problem. I just don't know if there was supposed to be something in there ever seeing how I have only ever taken this one off.

there are two pulleys. the 6 bolts go through the ac/ps pulley, through the wp/alt/toothed gear pulley to the crank. you can safely remove the outer pulley (ac/ps) and just bolt the inner pulley (wp/alt/gear) to the crank. I did.

do not weld any of it

as in the picture of mine there is no place for bolts in the alt/wtr/crank pully that is my issue

I see that now. I was typing when you posted that.

you will never ever be able to get the pulleys aligned with the crank perfectly. the toothed gear must be in a perfect posiniton in relation to the crank position.

you need a new (or new-to-you) crank pulley. if you were local I would give you one I have kicking around

Ok thanks thats what i needed to know. its just confusing because this is the only one i've taken apart. what worries me now is the rubber disk that goes behind the main pulley. I now have no idea what that is supposed to look like or how it is attached.

I did line the main pulley and accessory pulley up exact so that it would be in alignment with the O/T line on the rubber disk. and I am still fairly certain that my plan would work, but I will see what I can find for replacements.

You are missing half of the harmonic balancer. There should be a plate with holes for the bolts and a hole for the index pin that is bonded to the toothed ring with rubber.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

yeah the other half is on the car. hence the problem.

Right. And the solution is replacement of the failed harmonic balancer.

yeah hopefully i can get it on its way. guy has not answered as of yet though. I will keep searching for one. kept together by rubber seems like a weak design at this point but was also original most likely.

Joys of digging through someone elses car.

THanks guys i could not figure out how they where meant to go together.

because on mine there is nothing in the center
You need a new harmonic dampener, then!

that thing is scrap. also, that's the crank toothed wheel, not a cam wheel...

after having seen that failures are getting a little more common i was thinking the same.

solution was to by a brand new front that has seen no fatigue cycles and no heat cycles. mines for a big stroker with lots of revs so didnt wan to risk it
